The Minus One Club's Information Page

How       Why       What       Who       Back to Main Screen

Here's a rundown on How...

Add Items to The Database, New User
The first screen will be where you enter a User Name and Password and the information on how to contact you.
First enter a User name, this will be your Identity in the system.
Then enter a Password. Do Not Forget The Password.
I will Not be able to find it because the database codes it so I Can't read it...
The next screen is where you enter all your items you want to sell/swap. You can enter as many item's as needed.

Add Items To The Database, Welcome Back
First screen will be where you enter your User Name & a Password to get access to the product database.
( Remember what I said in the paragraph above )
Then you can add more items to sell/swap.

Search
Should be self-explanatory, if you want to look for item's here is where the data is entered to look for.
Just put in what you want click on search, simple eh?
If you are just looking you don't need to enter youre name, etc into the database.

When you want to make any changes to your item or perhaps get them out of the database because you've swapped
them, here is where it's done. You will need to login to do this.

Caution:
If you can't seem to get a password entered, try a newer browser. I just tried with Netscape 4.61, no joy, used Mozilla, no problem.

Why This Is...

I got this idea several years ago when I moved to Utah for a while. As you may or may not know, Salt Lake City ( Actually, West Valley City ) is located on what I believe to be a High Desert and as such has extreme weather, at least for a Sunny Southern Cal kinda guy like me. At any rate it was getting to be a bit brisk and I had asked people that had lived there all their lives and knew snow was on it's way.

So, I walked into a camping store on State Street ( that great street, best street in Salt Lake) and when I found a pair of gloves that looked like they would do the trick I took them to the counter. I asked the poor guy behind the register if I could get 1/2 off because I only needed 1 glove, the salesman got totally flustered and gave me a 40% discount.

Oh well, a penny saved is a penny earned don't ya' know.

What This Is... Info for the Intensly Interested...

I made this site very plain for a reason. Fast loading. No pretty backgrounds loading to slow everything down. No animated GIF's etc.
A lot of people can afford DSL or Cable, I can't so I hate a lot of foo foo on a site to slow me down.
I put this site together on a Macintosh G4-FW800, 1 Gig processor, 512 Meg Ram.
I used BBEdit for the HTML code and Php 4 was used as the middleware to interface between the HTML and the database.
I am using MySql as the Open Source database, NASA uses it so I figure it should be good enough for me as I'm a bit of a NASA Groupie.
